- In case you missed it, North Carolina has lost all of their extended unemployment benefits. States are required to follow the federal government's rules to collect extended unemployment benefits on behalf of their people. The North Carolina state legislature refused to do this by cutting back on unemployment benefits below the level required by the federal government. About 70,000 people in North Carolina were kicked off of extended unemployment benefits the first week of July. More HERE.
